Community Consultation 2025

After 31 years, Red Pepper is ceasing print production. You can read why here. Now, we are asking YOU – our readers and supporters – to shape what comes next.

Our Community Consultation period is taking place March – June. We’ll collect your ideas and energy before analysing results and launching a new model based on your feedback in summer 2025.

There are lots of ways to contribute, and this page will be regularly updated with details of events:

Readers’ Survey

A simple and quick way to share YOUR ideas, priorities, views and expectations for our future.

The survey is anonymous and all questions are optional. It should take 10-15 minutes to complete – longer only if you have a lot to say!

(We recommend using a computer or tablet rather than a mobile phone!)

Community Forums

These small group events are perfect for those of you who want to get deeper into the challenges facing left media today – and to discuss how Red Pepper might transform in order to tackle them!

All of the events are free to attend, with light refreshments provided at the in-person meetings. Register at the links below – and watch this space for more locations to be added soon!

Saturday April 5, 12-1.15pm – ONLINE

Saturday April 19, 1-2.15pm – Manchester/ Salford @ Working Class Movement Library

Wednesday April 30 April, 6-7.15pm – ONLINE

Sunday May 4, 12-1.15pm – London @ War on Want

Saturday May 17, 1-2.15pm – Leeds @ Imagine Leeds: The Climate Action Hub

Note: Spaces are limited so book now to avoid disappointment – and let us know if you can no longer make it so that we can open up the waiting list.

Join the team!

Do you have skills, energy, time and ideas to revitalise our team or take a lead role in shaping our future?

We’re looking for people from all backgrounds and levels of experience – and training and orientation will be provided to new members (as well as mentorship where useful). Let us know what you’d like to bring to our team!

  • The Admin and Advisory Collective (Board) oversees all our non-editorial operations. We’re especially looking for people with skills in business strategy, financial management, securing grants, marketing, and HR. These volunteer/ pro-bono positions usually require 2-4 hours per month.
  • The Editorial Collective plans, commissions, edits and posts articles. Members are paid a stipend and generally work 8-16 hours per month for at least six months of the year. It holds regular virtual meetings but primarily works via email.
  • Volunteers are essential to help build Red Pepper’s reach, from joining stalls at events to helping maintain our website and proof-reading grant applications. If you only have a few hours here and there to contribute, let us know!

A request to subscribers

This transformation will simply not be possible without your continued support.

That’s why we’re asking subscribers to keep contributing to Red Pepper until June – and hopefully far beyond.

Please take this time to enjoy our special bumper-length final quarterly print issue and engage with the consultation. You can also expect new online articles and exclusive e-newsletters delivered to your inbox –so please don’t jump to cancel your direct debit right now!
